MELANCON FUNERAL HOME

Elnora M. Hollier
( September 16, 1933 - December 10, 2020 )

SUNSET ~ Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel in Carencro for Elnora Miller Hollier, age 87, who passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 10, 2020 at her residence in Sunset, Louisiana.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Cemetery. Deacon David Menard of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church will officiate at the services.

Elnora was born on September 16, 1933 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to John Miller and Agnes Bordelon Miller. A resident of Sunset for 60 years, Elnora married her husband, Elvin, on April 25, 1952, in the small community of Prairie Ronde. Elnora lived a full and wonderful life as a mother and homemaker. She treasured her four sons and embraced every moment she spent with them. A farm girl at heart, she had many memories growing up in a large but close knit Cajun family. She was a remarkable cook and loved to prepare Cajun dishes for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in the family RV and quickly made friends wherever she went. Her sweet disposition and beautiful smile will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Elnora is survived by her sons, Michael Hollier, of Fredericksburg, Virginia and his partner Joey Lambert, Jack Hollier of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Danny Hollier and his wife Pam of Scott, Louisiana, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Elvin Hollier; her son, Joseph Bryan Hollier; her parents, John and Agnes Bordelon Miller; her two sisters, Rosalie Miller Ray and Darnell Miller Ardoin; and her four brothers John “Jay” Miller, Jr., Vernon James “Sonny” Miller, Anthony Clyde Miller, and Robert “Bob” Miller.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Friends and others whose lives were touched by Elnora are invited to Melancon’s Funeral Home Chapel in CARENCRO on Monday, December 14 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Family members are invited to a private visitation starting at 8:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Danny Hollier, Jack Hollier, Michael Hollier, Joey Lambert, Tony Miller, and Jason Miller. Honorary pallbearer is Zach Miller.

The Hollier family would like to extend their gratitude to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Lafayette, La. and to her loyal at-home caregivers Judy Calais, Bea Gardner, Cindy Guillot, Beverly Kidder, Tamekia Lazarde, Glenda Lewis, Janice Mouret, Cathleen Olivier, Necey Rideaux, Tranesa Rose, and Surrie Williams for their loving care and compassion.
