William C. "Bill" Harmon Jr., 87, of Danville passed away on Jan. 30, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 30, 1923 in Church Point, La. to William C. and Stella D. (Lambert) Harmon Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack Harmon; daughter, Anne Harmon; grandson, John David Harmon and sisters, Evelyn and Edmee.
He married Mary Ellen Morrissey on April 27, 1946 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Pat (Patti) Harmon of Jackson, Mississippi, Mike Harmon of Danville and Tom Harmon of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; two daughters, Peggy (Glenn) Johnson and Suzie Harmon, both of Danville; one brother, Marsden Harmon of Fairfax, Va.; one sister, Stella Dohman, of Opelousas, La; 14 grandchildren, Patrick (Lisa) Harmon of Brandon, Mississippi, Doug (Toy) Harmon of New Orleans, Andrew Harmon of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Eric (Stephanie) Harmon of Dallas, David Johnson, Jesse Johnson and Jason Atwood, all of Las Vegas, Sarah (Jeremy) Strawser of Danville, Adrienne Harmon of Naperville, Lauren (Randy Jolley) of Florence, S.C., Neal (Melissa) Harmon of Gulfport, Mississippi, Stacia Harvey of St. Louis, Katie (Trent Defenbaugh) Harvey of Danville and Eric Ziegler of Danville; 12 great-grandchildren, with two more arriving this year and several nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Mrs. Stella Harmon
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on North Main Street, for Mrs. Stella Dufilho Lambert Harmon. 86, of Shreveport, formerly of Opelousas. She died at 3 p m Friday at her daughter’s residence in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America She was the daughter of the late Stanislaus Lambert and Marie Louise Dufilho. She graduated from Opelousas High School in 1918, worked at Planters’ Bank and in the 1930s worked with the Acadia Parish Welfare Department.
Survivors include two sons, William Chiles Harmon Jr. of Daneville, Ill., and Col. Marsden Harmon II of Fairfax, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Cyrus (Evelyn) Larmoyeux of Shreveport, Mrs. J.J. (Stella) Dohmann Sr. of Lewisburg, and Mrs. Edmee German of Eunice; two brothers, Edward S. Lambert and Roger L. Lambert both of Los Angeles, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great-grand-children.
