OPELOUSAS—Funeral services for Lawrence Hollier, 48, of Opelousas, principal of the Leonville High School for the past 16 years, were to be conducted this afternoon at 4 o’clock in the St. Landry Catholic Church.

Hollier was born in Opelousas, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. “Hop” Hollier. He attended Louisiana Normal in Natchitoches, now Northwestern State College, and after receiving a teacher’s certificate began his profession at Port Barre as a classroom teacher. In 1927 he was made principal of the Pecanniere Elementary School and remained there nine years. He was appointed principal of the Leonville school in 1936 the same year he received his BA degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute.
Hollier was considered one of the outstanding principals in the state and he, his faculty, and students had been cited many times in the educational fields. He held membership in the Knights of Columbus, National, Louisiana, and St. Landry Education Associations.
